HEMS Workshop Student Travel Award
Purpose:
The conference award is intended to encourage interest in the topics
applicable to Harsh Environment Mass Spectrometry (HEMS) and reward
the scientific merit and quality of the student’s research
in the area of HEMS.
Award Amount:
Varies for each workshop
For the 2007 HEMS Annual Meeting the proposed award includes:
An award of $1200.00, to be used for:
$150.00 registration fee
$550.00 travel fees
$300.00 for 3 nights accommodations
$200.00 for per diem of 4 days (@$50.00/day)
Eligibility:
The requirements allow any full-time graduate student pursuing
a M.S., M.A., or Ph.D. degree within a discipline applicable
to the HEMS conference. Students must be in good standing with
their
university.
Guidelines:
An application for a travel award must include:
- A letter from the student describing his/her academic standing
and interests, his/her expected graduation date and degree,
advisor's name, and, if available, a URL for a working Web page.
- A detailed letter from the student's faculty advisor indicating
why the student is deserving of receiving a travel award
and any special circumstances.
- The title of the poster or presentation to be given by
the student at the meeting, along with the abstract, and authors.
- A vita that includes the student's research interests,
projects, and papers
published.

Completes Guideline list
Quality and intellectual merit of the abstract and research
Potential for future publications from research focus
